Private health insurance also contributes towards hearing aids, the amount dependent on your level of cover – we recommend that you contact your health insurance provider directly to determine whether your level of cover includes rebates for the provision of hearing aids.

In addition, you may be able to claim a medical expense tax offset for hearings aids. For 2004-05, the tax offset was 20% of health expenses over the net $1,500 threshold amount. Further information may be obtained from your accountant or call the Tax Infoline on 13 28 61.
